Position Overview

The Pediatric Dietitian will provide expert dietary services focusing on the nutritional needs of children and adolescents. The role involves assessing nutritional status, developing individualized care plans, and delivering nutrition education to patients and their caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients' nutritional status and develop appropriate medical nutrition therapy care plans.
• Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families.
• Document all treatment recommendations in the electronic medical record following facility policy.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds with healthcare professionals including medical, nursing, and rehabilitation staff.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members to ensure the effective implementation of nutrition care plans.
• Serve patients with complex diagnoses, including those requiring enteral feeding and specialized nutritional support.
• Participate in outpatient programs providing nutritional support for both inpatient and ambulatory care patients.

Schedule

This position operates on a 5x8-hour day shift from 08:30 to 17:00, Monday through Friday. Specific responsibilities will include outpatient clinic work, inpatient assessments, and participation in group classes related to healthy eating and weight management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
• Completion of the required coursework and Dietetic Internship.
• Successful passing of the CDR exam is mandatory. A Bachelor's degree is acceptable if the exam is passed before January 1, 2024.
• Registered Dietitian Licensure is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of pediatric experience is preferred; adult experience may also be considered.

Patient Population

The Pediatric Dietitian will work with a diverse patient population, including children with complex diagnoses, gastrointestinal complications, and those transitioning from tube feeds to oral intake.

Work Environment

This position requires participation in interdisciplinary team activities, documentation of care plans, and coordination of care within the pediatric setting. Flexibility to accommodate holidays and potential floating duties as needed is expected, while weekend work is not required.
