Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Description

Join a dynamic 65-bed Emergency Department, featuring a pod-based model, a dedicated pediatric pod, and a separate Acute Mental Health area.

Position Details

• Years of Experience Required: 2 years of Emergency Nursing experience.
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1:4.
• Patient Population: All age groups.
• Bed Count: 65.
• Census: Approximately 230 visits per day.

Responsibilities

As an Emergency Department RN, you will be responsible for:

• Performing comprehensive patient assessments and documenting findings.
• Administering medications and IV therapy.
• Conducting phlebotomy, EKG, and cardiac monitoring.
• Utilizing point-of-care testing and performing splinting procedures.
• Exhibiting critical thinking to manage complex patient situations.
• Providing patient education to ensure understanding of health conditions and treatments.

Requirements

• Certifications Required: AHA Certified BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• Preferred Certifications: NRP and TNCC.
• Floating: Required to the ED Observation wing (16 beds) and Acute Mental Health Unit.
• Shifts: Rotating shifts are required for day positions (7a-7p, 11a-11p, & 7p-7a) when requested; however, the night position does not rotate.

Charting System

The department utilizes EPIC – ASAP for electronic medical records (EMR) charting.

Work Schedule

This position is available for 36 or 48 hours per week, with night shifts and weekends required.
