Unit Description

This is a 65-bed Emergency Department featuring a pod-based design, including a separate pediatric pod and an acute mental health area.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in the Emergency Department.
• Conduct patient assessments and maintain thorough documentation.
• Perform IV insertions, phlebotomy, EKG monitoring, and point of care testing.
• Administer splinting and provide critical thinking in patient care situations.
• Educate patients regarding their health and treatment plans.
• Respond to emergencies and support critical care needs across a diverse patient population.

Patient Care Details

• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Patient Population: All ages and conditions.

Census

The department experiences an average of 230 visits per day.

Equipment & Technology

The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system utilized is EPIC - ASAP.

Floating Requirements

Floating to the ED Observation wing (16 beds) and the Acute Mental Health Unit (ED Psych OBs) is required.

Shift Requirements

Rotating shifts may be required for day positions (7a-7p, 11a-11p) upon request. However, this nighttime position does not rotate. Rotation frequency is low.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Nursing experience required.
• Certifications Required: AHA certified in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred.
