Position Summary

The CT Technologist coordinates and participates in all computerized tomography scanning procedures. This role involves setting up, monitoring, and operating advanced computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor the operation of CT equipment for each patient.
• Transfer and position patients using established safety standards and proper lifting techniques. Apply immobilization devices as necessary.
• Provide required patient identification and obtain vital information concerning allergies and pertinent medical history.
• Properly prepare and inject contrast media intravenously into patients as needed, following protocols provided by the Radiologist.
• Make and develop images for permanent records and maintain studies on magnetic tape for future reference.
• Organize the daily patient schedule in collaboration with the work-room technician.
• Maintain image quality according to departmental guidelines, performing daily calibration and quality control of equipment.
• Oversee electronic/digital image capture, storage, transfer, and copying processes.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions and take proper actions as necessary. Assist in emergency medical situations, including providing basic CPR.
• Ensure protection for self and patients according to current safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain a clean working environment and manage supplies within departmental inventory levels.
• Instruct new personnel as required.
• Assist Radiologists and other physician specialists in specialized radiological procedures, meeting departmental skill standards.
• Review and record relevant patient history and clinical data to assist the Radiologist in patient diagnosis.
• Maintain required registries in compliance with regulations.
• Participate in quality assessments and continuous improvement initiatives, including data collection and evaluation, goal-setting, and action plan implementation.

Certification Requirements

• BLS Certification
• ARRT Certification

Experience Requirements

• 2+ years of CT experience (required)
• Experience with Phillips equipment (required)
• Traveler experience (preferred)
