Job Description

This position is for a Registered Respiratory Therapist working night shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed. The therapist will provide respiratory care and support to patients in various settings, including acute care and intensive care environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory therapy services in accordance with established protocols.
• Administer treatments for ventilator support and other respiratory modalities.
• Perform arterial blood gas analyses and interpret results accurately.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to evaluate patient progress and modify treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions and treatments.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Must possess an active RRT credential and a Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist License.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a respiratory therapy role within an acute care setting.
• Previous experience as a traveler is preferred (1 to 2 years).
• Experience with ventilators, specifically PB980 and Hamilton T1 Transport Ventilators, is required.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, specifically EPIC.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility to rotate shifts as needed, including day shifts when required.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a clinician-to-patient ratio of 5 therapists during day shifts, accommodating 20 beds in an Intensive Care Unit and various Medical/Surgical floors.

Certifications Required

• BLS Certification
• RRT Credential
