Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The PCU is a 41-bed trauma and telemetry unit that provides comprehensive care for adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries, often requiring surgical intervention.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams.
• Monitor and manage patient conditions, including telemetry monitoring for up to 14 patients.
• Ensure adherence to established protocols for surgical trauma care.
• Participate in patient and family education regarding treatment plans and recovery processes.
• Collaborate with IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and other support services to optimize patient outcomes.
• Conduct regular assessments, maintain accurate patient records, and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, particularly in progressive care or telemetry.
• Current certifications: AHA ACLS, BCLS, NIH, and TELE.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to fulfill a schedule including 36 hours per week with 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week rotation.

Patient Population

The unit specializes in managing patients with a variety of surgical trauma diagnoses, such as injuries from gunshot wounds, motor vehicle accidents, assaults, and falls. The nurse-to-patient ratio typically ranges from 1:4, flexing to 1:5 based on patient needs.

Special Unit Features

This unit is equipped with telemetry capabilities, ensuring that patients receive continuous monitoring and rapid response as needed. The collaborative care environment includes access to Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Transportation for comprehensive patient support.

Work Environment

The position operates on a night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, from 19:00 to 07:30. Join our team and make a significant impact in the recovery of our patients in their healing journey following traumatic injuries.
