Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Psych Services department plays a crucial role as a key member of the patient care team. This position involves providing direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process across all assigned areas. The RN will be responsible for developing and periodically updating individualized, interdisciplinary plans of care, evaluating patient outcomes, and identifying available resources for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care in compliance with established protocols.
- Develop and regularly update individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Identify and facilitate access to available resources for patients.
Patient Care Focus
The Emergency Psych Services department provides care for patients aged 5 and up with various psychiatric illnesses, including but not limited to:
- Major depression
- Bipolar disorder
- Adjustment disorder
- Psychotic disorders
- Patients seeking detoxification support
Qualifications
- Education: 2-Year Associate's degree required.
- Licensure: Valid State of Maine RN license.
- Certifications: BLS Certification required; CPI training must be current prior to start.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of previous experience in mental health nursing required.
Skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong ability to work effectively as a team player.
- Ability to manage stress appropriately and make decisions under pressure.
- Flexibility to provide coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Additional Requirements
Holiday coverage is required.
