Job Description

The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the cardiac catheterization process, including scrubbing in for procedures and operating X-ray equipment. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and promote the mission and values of the organization.
• Scrub in for Cardiac Cath Lab and Special Procedures.
• Prepare heart catheters for procedures.
• Evaluate images for density, contrast, detail, and structures necessary for diagnosis.
• Perform special procedures radiography using appropriate equipment.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of procedural areas, ensuring they are prepared for examinations.
• Complete assigned examinations within the designated time frame.
• Arrive for duty in a timely manner, dressed in scrubs and ready for patient care.
• Review requisitions for pertinent information and special requests.
• Position and prepare patients, and set up equipment for procedures.
• Assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Report any unusual reactions or conditions to nursing staff.
• Provide information based on the situation while being sensitive to individual and organizational concerns.
• Demonstrate flexibility by rotating among various shifts or departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned consistent with this role.

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to explain procedures to patients and involve them in their care.
• Competency in Balloon Pump and Impella operations.

Education and Experience

• Current NH ARRT license required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Completion of a certificate or degree course in radiologic technology.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
