Position Purpose

To coordinate and implement an individualized plan of care for each patient using the nursing process while adhering to the standards, policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on patient assessments to optimize outcomes and make efficient use of available resources.
• Utilize prioritization and critical thinking skills to make decisive judgments and function with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Comply with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team utilizing evidence-based practices to provide quality outcomes and coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support needs.
• Identify barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.
• Evaluate the learning needs of patients and/or families and deliver appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Delegate patient care effectively to ancillary personnel and may precept student nurses and new hires.
• Practice in accordance with professional and ethical standards as defined by the ANA Code of Ethics and the State Nurse Practice Act.
• Demonstrate a caring attitude to establish therapeutic relationships and engage in patient and family education as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
• Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.

Education, Licensure(s), and Certification

• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or Compact license (Required).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or to be obtained within 90 days of hire) (Required).
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or to be obtained within six months of hire) (Required).
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• Current STABLE certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or to be obtained within one year of hire) (Required).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field (Preferred).

Experience
