Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic medical-surgical unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Traveler experience accepted; first-time travelers are welcome.
• Locals accepted with rate differences.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Skills:
  • Medical-Surgical nursing
  • Telemetry, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Peripheral line care and management, IV initiation and maintenance
  • Oxygen administration and management, including nasal cannula and oxygen tanks
  • Isolation precautions and PPE compliance
• Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Skills:
  • IV insulin protocols and management
  • Heparin and insulin management
  • Cardiac drips management (no titration)
  • Non-invasive airway management (BiPAP/CPAP)
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) experience
  • Oral suctioning, wound care, and wound vac management
  • Community hospital experience preferred
• Certifications:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Job Details

• Target patient ratios: 1:5 to 1:6
• Shifts: Nights, 3x12 hours (18:45 - 07:15)
• 36 hours can be offered, with 13-week contracts accepted.
• Time off requests will be reviewed by the unit for accommodation.
• Floating may be required as per unit needs.
• Weekend commitment: Every third weekend (8 shifts for 13-week contracts).

Patient Diagnoses

• Common conditions include COPD, CHF, diabetes, infectious diseases, rehabilitation needs, and standard medical/surgical cases.

Special Procedures and Unit Details

• Average daily census: 8 patients
• Unit capacity: 12 beds
• Medication and documentation systems: Manual discharge carts and paper documentation using SBAR communication format.

Orientation and Scrubs

• Unit orientation: 24-36 hours
• Hospital orientation during the first week; daily attendance for classes is required.
• Scrubs: Navy blue
