Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Endoscopy department. The successful candidate will provide nursing care for patients in accordance with established standards and practices, applying professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care using established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Implement and evaluate patient care interventions.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Identify problems and recommend solutions to enhance patient care.
- Document patient care accurately and maintain appropriate records.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina or a recognized compact/multi-state license.
- BSN is preferred, and must be obtained within five (5) years of hire if not already held.
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card is required.
- ACLS is required for positions in the Pain Management Clinic.
- NRP certification is required within six (6) months of hire for WIC service RNs.
- Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
- Understanding of organizational policies and procedures for administering patient care.
- Ability to identify common safety hazards and precautions.
- Skill in applying nursing principles and techniques for ongoing patient care.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and skill in identifying solutions.
- Proficient in record-keeping and report writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and healthcare personnel.
- Critical thinking and calm reaction abilities in emergency situations.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
Work Environment
The RN-Endoscopy will experience frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting/moving patients as part of their responsibilities. The role may require lifting, moving, or carrying weights up to 50 lbs. Additionally, the position involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and possible infectious materials. The individual must be able to work efficiently under stressful conditions and may be required to work weekends or holidays based on departmental needs.
Schedule
The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with 2-3 weekday call shifts and every fourth weekend on call.
