Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PACU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The ideal candidate will be competent in dealing with both adult and pediatric patients and will possess strong critical thinking skills to work independently and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from surgical procedures across various specialties, including ICU, MRI, Oncology, and Interventional Radiology.
- Administer medications and manage pain relief protocols according to established guidelines.
- Document patient care using Epic charting systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care.
- Participate in departmental training, including floating to the Day Unit as necessary.
Qualifications
- Active RN License in North Dakota or a compact state.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU experience is required; critical care or intermediate unit experience is preferred.
- Current certifications in ACLS, PALS, and BLS (must be AHA certified).
- Experience working with pediatric patients is essential.
- Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is required.
Shift Information
This position requires 12-hour day shifts with start times ranging from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Additional call requirements include 3-5 weeknight shifts and 1-2 weekends of call within a six-week period.
Work Environment
The PACU consists of a 16-bay Phase I unit, providing a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 2:1. The role involves floating between the PACU and the Day Unit as required.
Additional Notes
Candidates must note if they have previously worked for Sanford Health and provide their end date. All clinicians will be required to badge in and out at the facility. Scrubs will be provided in Ceil Blue.
