Position Overview

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing all diagnostic imaging exams in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role requires delivering high-quality imaging efficiently, while ensuring patient care and safety throughout the process.

Essential Functions

• Operate CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment following prescribed radiation safety procedures.
• Position patients for CT scans using appropriate devices and protective equipment.
• Conduct exams accurately in line with established protocols and safety standards.
• Assist radiologists during imaging procedures, including starting IVs and injecting contrast when applicable.
• Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images, and ensure proper labeling.
• Schedule patient procedures and assist with clerical tasks as needed.
• Manage charges for procedures and supplies in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Prepare and administer oral contrast to patients for CT scans when necessary.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Provide training and orientation to new CT technologists and student technologists.
• Address the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families during scanning procedures.
• Contribute to the education and training of medical interns, residents, fellows, and attending physicians, if applicable.
• Assist radiologists in developing new imaging protocols and techniques unique to the facility.
• Coordinate scheduling and patient flow to optimize the efficiency of operations.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration and in performing all exam protocols accurately.
• Participate in other related duties as needed to support the department.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Must be able to lift up to twenty (20) pounds, with patient movements potentially requiring lifting of fifty (50) pounds or more. The job may involve standing for extended periods and requires fine motor skills and visual acuity.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Completion of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology, plus completion of an accredited CT program; or a graduate of a bachelor's degree program in Radiology with clinical rotation experience in CT; or sufficient clinical experience in lieu of formal CT program.
• Experience: Preferred one year of experience but not mandatory.
• Licensure and Certification: ARRT certification in Radiography, CT certification within 18 months of employment, and BLS certification.
• Job Knowledge: Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology as it pertains to Radiologic exams, along with excellent communication skills.
