Job Summary
The NICU Respiratory Therapist will provide specialized respiratory care to neonates experiencing respiratory distress. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating respiratory care interventions in collaboration with the medical team to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to determine respiratory needs.
- Administer respiratory therapies and interventions, including mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications.
- Monitor patients' respiratory status and response to treatment, adjusting interventions as necessary based on clinical findings.
- Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate parents and caregivers on respiratory care and the use of equipment.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Current Respiratory Therapist license in the applicable state.
- Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred.
- Experience in neonatal respiratory care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of current respiratory care practices and technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and families.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
