Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the independent administration of a range of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and various injections, following provider orders. This role includes accessing port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters, as well as performing venipuncture, dressing changes, and laboratory tests via these access devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and injections accurately and safely.
- Perform venipuncture and manage PICC and Hickman catheter care, including dressing changes and laboratory draws.
- Maintain precise and organized patient records documenting conditions, treatments, medications, and responses.
- Monitor all intravenous therapies and report any unusual occurrences to the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on medications, treatments, expected responses, side effects, and disease processes.
- Verify informed consent prior to chemotherapy administration.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs, while adhering to PPE protocols.
- Ensure a safe environment by following all relevant policies and procedures.
- Utilize Epic EMR proficiently in daily operations.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Current and valid nursing license.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
Note: Holiday coverage is required for this position.
