Minimum Experience
Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
Patient Population
The position involves working with adult to geriatric patients.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification is preferred
General Skills and Work Setting Requirements
This role will take place on a telemetry unit managing diagnoses such as:
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Myocardial Infarction (MI) and Chest Pain (Pre- and Post-Cath)
- Dysrhythmias (Pre- and Post-Device Implants)
- Hypo-/Hypertension
- Pleural Effusion
- Sepsis
- Pulmonary Embolism (PE) / Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) / Vascular Issues
Census and Ratio
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5, with a total of 36 rooms and an average daily census of 35 patients.
Unit Systems
Experience with the following systems is required:
- Epic
- Pyxis
- SBAR
Uniform Requirements
Scrub color is navy blue.
Time Off
Maximum allowable time off (RTO) is 7 days. Note that blackout dates include Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
Weekend and Holiday Requirements
Schedule requires working every other weekend unless specified otherwise. The following holiday requirements apply:
- If one major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it.
- If two major holidays are within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both.
- If three major holidays occur in the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them.
Major holidays include:
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving/Black Friday
- Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day
Compliance Requirements
Full compliance is required to start on time. Any delays in compliance may result in a two-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedules.
Clinical Screening
All candidates will be reviewed for clinical fit. If a candidate meets the clinical guidelines, they will be forwarded to the hiring manager for a final decision. Clinical screenings will be conducted on a case-by-case basis.
Local Candidates
Local candidates are accepted at the same rate.
Orientation Hours
The number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours will be determined by the contract length (e.g., 8 hours for an 8-week assignment; 19 hours for a 19-week assignment).
