Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant to join our dynamic surgical team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical assistance and be prepared to support various surgical procedures.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of Surgical First Assistant experience is required.
- Experience in both teaching hospitals and community hospitals is preferred.
- Broad Surgical First Assist experience is essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist with a diverse range of surgical cases, including General Surgery, GYN, Neurosurgery/Spine, Orthopedics, Trauma, and Urology.
- Perform first assist skills such as tissue handling, clamping/cauterizing, suctioning/irrigation, wound closure, ligation, drainage tube placement, and other intraoperative functions.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and maintain instrument processing and sterilization standards.
- Participate in weekday, weekend, and holiday call coverage as required.
Qualifications
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- NBSTSA certification is mandatory.
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA), or similar credentials are required.
- Experience with total joints, breast procedures, plastics, rhinoplasty, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries is expected.
Schedule & Time Off
- The position requires weekday call from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and weekend call from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Holidays are to be covered with rotating responsibilities, and no time off will be approved during key holiday periods like Easter and Mother's Day.
- Requests for time off (RTO) of 14 days or less will be auto-approved; other requests may face restrictions.
Additional Information
- Scrubs will be provided in teal.
- No requirements exist for floating between units or accommodating a block schedule.
- This position is open to local candidates.
