Position Summary:

The Mammography Technologist performs various breast imaging procedures, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and assists with breast ultrasound biopsy, while adhering to MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging.

Essential Job Functions:

• Demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions, and safe radiation administration.
• Review patients' requisition to ensure consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and demographic information.
• Maintain proficiency in all mammography and stereotactic equipment, examinations, protocols, and procedures involving contrast agents and sterile techniques.
• Conduct and document quality control, ensuring equipment meets safety standards as per MQSA and ACR guidelines.
• Educate patients pre- and post-procedure to facilitate understanding and continuity of care.
• Perform breast imaging examinations for technical accuracy and present completed examinations to the radiologist.
• Simplify scheduling of breast imaging appointments and coordinate exams for quality patient care.
• Assist in managing departmental workflow to ensure timely completion of work assignments and proper patient billing.
• Oversee inventory of medical supplies to ensure cost-effective departmental operations.
• Participate in promotional and educational events regarding breast health.
• Contribute to the orientation of new employees and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain 24 CEU credits biannually in accordance with A.R.R.T. guidelines and keep CPR certification current.
• Model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
• Perform additional duties as assigned while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum one year of experience preferred, particularly in healthcare settings.
• Licenses: Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Mammography (M) required.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Computer Skills: Proficient in necessary computer skills to complete job-specific competencies and access online resources.
• Language Skills: Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
