Position Summary

The Surgical Technician is responsible for preparing the operating room, including setting up the sterile field along with surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions. During surgeries, the technician assists by passing instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon while ensuring effective management of surgical equipment and specimens.

Essential Job Duties

• Maintain a clean and sterile surgical environment.
• Provide appropriate instrumentation and equipment assistance to the surgeon during procedures.
• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Keep detailed records of Steam Sterilizer usage.
• Perform initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulating nurse.
• Organize suture carts and monitor expiration dates.
• Efficiently turn over operating rooms between surgeries.
• Assist team members with gowning and gloving procedures.
• Support patient positioning pre-operatively and assist with patient transport.
• Ensure adequate supplies are stocked for surgical procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
• Less than one year of related work experience is preferred.
• BLS certification is required.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are required.

Schedule Information

This position is full-time, working Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with holiday coverage required. The role includes a weekend call rotation from 7:00 AM Friday through 7:00 AM Monday, with a mandated 15-minute response time.
