Scheduling Details

• Shift Hours: 3x12s, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Weekend Requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Accept First-Time Travelers: Yes
• Local Candidates: Accepted with radius rule considerations

Charting

Experience with EPIC charting is required.

Call Off Policy

The facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Required Clinical Skills

• Previous Neuro experience is required; experience in large level 1 or level 2 facilities is preferred.
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring and emergency responses, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and utilization of Rapid Response and Code teams.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care.
• Experience with medications, including continuous IV paralytics, neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Neuro-specific management skills, including CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drain management, hypothermia protocol, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care.
• Respiratory skills, including assistance with BiPAP/CPAP, care of ventilated patients, and ventilator management.

Unit Details and Responsibilities

• Patient Ratios: 1:2
• Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, neurosurgery, neuro-specific diagnoses, and complex spine cases.
• Special Procedures: External ventricular drains (EVDs) and therapeutic thermoregulation.
• Floating: May be required to float within skill set.
