Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position with a focus on oncology and high acuity PCU care; an active OH or compact RN license is required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a comprehensive cancer center with 318 acute care beds
• Assigned to the Progressive Care Unit with a focus on oncology patients
• Typical patient population includes BMT, acute leukemia, hematology, medical oncology, PCU oncology, gynecological oncology, urology, colorectal, surgical oncology, and corrections healthcare
• Floating to MedSurg and various oncology PCU units required
• PCU staffing ratios are typically 1:3, may be 1:4 with mixed acuity, and MedSurg/Telemetry ideally 1:4 but can be 1:5
• Night shift (3x12 hour shifts), 19:00–07:30
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• Self-scheduling requests allowed prior to final schedule posting
• Required to follow strict infection prevention protocols and fall precautions
• First week consists of dayshift orientation Monday through Friday, followed by five shifts of bedside orientation
• Independent practice begins after orientation period
• Strict compliance with Ohio fingerprinting process is mandatory immediately upon contract signing
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• No set or blocked scheduling is offered
• RTO (requested time off) must be submitted at the time of application
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for this assignment

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand required for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of high acuity PCU or higher level experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Must provide 2 professional references, including at least one from a manager/director or supervisor
• Former employees must have been away from the facility for at least 6 months to be eligible
