Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position requiring cardiac drip titration and strong floating skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital setting as part of the Telemetry Float Pool, floating between Telemetry, MedSurg, Cardiac Tele, ICU, and observation units
• Cares for adult patients with cardiac, neuro, surgical, ortho, oncology, and post-procedural needs
• Patient ratios range from 1:3-4 on Tele, 1:4 on MedSurg
• Requires the ability to interpret EKGs and titrate cardiac drips (Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine down only)
• Uses Cerner EMR for charting
• 12-hour night shifts, 7-7, with four weekend shifts per schedule and required to work two of three major holidays
• Floating may include assignments at two campuses within 9 miles and floating to similar or lower-acuity units, potentially mid-shift
• Orientation includes 12 hours general and 2 days floor-specific training
• Will float between all Telemetry, MedSurg, and observation units depending on facility needs
• Notification of floating and campus location is given 1.5 hours prior to the shift; rarely may float between campuses in a single shift
• Must work in navy-colored scrubs
• Charge nurses and clinical supervisors provide unit support but do not carry patient assignments
• No pediatric patients; must care for ages 15 and older only
• Must pass sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes during orientation
• RT and Pharmacy services available 24/7, but no IV team provided
• Returning candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit facility within the past year
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility for AZ positions

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required; no pending certifications allowed
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience required
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips and interpret EKGs
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (maximum 2 attempts)
• Must pass a pass/fail Sim Lab on orientation day
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references needed: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
