Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for night shifts in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a ME or compact RN license and strong neuro and trauma skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting
- 26-bed ICU including some negative pressure rooms
- Caring for medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, ortho, and interventional patients
- Conditions include ICP monitoring, EVD, spinal precautions, DKA, multi-system trauma, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, and stroke
- Patient ratio is typically 1:2, with a possible third patient during discharge or transfer
- Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating may be required to Cardiac Care Unit, Cardiac or Medical Stepdown, or to PICU if pediatric experience is present
- Uses Cerner for charting; experience preferred
- Utilizes Alaris and Pyxis equipment
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurse, resource nurse, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, intensivist, and trauma surgery team
- General hospital orientation followed by one shift of unit orientation provided
- Flu vaccination required for assignment; only medical exemptions will be considered
- Holiday coverage varies and requires manager approval for requests
- Professional solid color scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Free parking is available in designated areas
Requirements
- Active ME RN license or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
- Strong neuro and trauma experience including EVD and ICP monitoring required
- Experience with ventilator management, critical care drips, drain management, stroke, hemodynamic lines (A-lines/CVP), cardiac rhythm recognition, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and strong assessment skills required
- Cerner experience preferred
- PALS certification preferred if candidate has PICU experience and may float to the unit
- Applicants must not have worked at any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacity
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles South/Southwest of the facility
