Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Charge Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring at least 2 years of charge and Level II trauma experience, with night shifts and an active CO or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a combined Pediatric and Pediatric ICU unit with 20 pediatric beds and 8 PICU beds
• Patient ratios are based on acuity, with typical assignments of up to three less critical pediatric patients and 1:1 for new trauma patients
• Pediatric patient population including respiratory and trauma cases
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), with weekend work required up to every weekend
• One mandatory on-call shift per 4-week period, though rarely needed
• No floating required outside the Pediatric/PICU units
• Epic charting system is used and Epic experience is required
• Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted, though at a lower bill rate
• Manage a combination of pediatric and PICU patients as Charge Nurse
• Modules and orientation must be completed online prior to start, averaging around 4 hours
• Holiday coverage is required except for blacked-out dates around Christmas
• Team shares a charge nurse across pediatric and PICU units
• Monthly parking costs apply, with signup required
• The facility is drug and alcohol free, with compliance testing conducted pre-assignment

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU RN experience with recent charge and Level II trauma experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA only)
• Epic charting experience required
• Must pass a drug and alcohol screening, including THC/marijuana panel, prior to assignment
• First-time travelers will be considered
• No more than 5 days of requested time off for a 13-week contract, and no Christmas RTO between 12/24 and 12/27
