Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift position, requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and a SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiac ICU of a hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes open heart surgery, neuro surgery, vascular surgery, trauma, and medical overflow
• Unit has 8 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 as needed
• Night shift 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating as needed within skillset to support MICU, SICU, and other medical units with a maximum of 4 patients when floating
• Utilizes Cerner EMR system
• Responsibilities include advanced cardiovascular critical care for complex cases and post-surgical patients
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Both COVID and flu vaccinations are required; medical and religious exemptions are accepted
• Must complete designated compliance training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter
• Holiday coverage may be required according to unit needs
• Travelers may only work two assignments before a mandatory 12-month break before returning

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Previous travel experience required
• Experience performing special procedures such as chest tubes, swan, temporary pacers, cordess, cardiac continuous output, JP drains, central lines, art lines, trach, peg, and G/J tube
