Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact RN license, with day shifts and travel nurse experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit with a 30-bed capacity
• Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with pre/post HD care and CAPD
• Typical patient ratio is 1:6
• Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, BiPAP, tracheostomies, CPAP, chest tubes, and Kangaroo tube feed pumps
• Phlebotomy required; supported by 1-2 CNAs per shift and sitters
• Required to float to other Med/Surg Tele units as needed
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and major holiday requirements
• Responsibilities include initial and ongoing patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and care coordination
• Expected to manage pre- and post-hemodialysis patients as well as those requiring CAPD
• Team includes support from CNAs and sitters
• Pass/fail EKG testing required on first day with study guide provided
• Major holiday coverage is required
• No previous permanent employment with this health system is permitted for travelers

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum one year of recent acute care RN experience required
• At least one year of travel nursing experience required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia/EKG exam upon start with two attempts allowed
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility and provide proof of address for consideration
