Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) position in a critical access acute care setting with rotation between day and night shifts and coverage of both L&D and MedSurg/Peds units.

Responsibilities

• Work in an LDRP unit within a critical access hospital
• Patient population includes labor & delivery, postpartum, hyperbilirubinemia, preterm labor, and triage
• Unit includes 4 L&D beds, 6 postpartum beds, and 1 triage bed
• Requires working 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a), with shifts rotating every 3 weeks
• Every third weekend and every third holiday required
• Call required with a 1-hour response time
• Floating to MedSurg/Peds unit when OB census is low
• Epic EMR used in the unit
• Philips telemetry monitors are used; RNs are responsible for monitoring and reading strips
• RNs provide care for OB and postpartum patients and must be able to float to MedSurg/Peds as needed
• Charge nurse available each shift; may take patient assignment if necessary
• On-call anesthesiologist and OB/Neonatologist support
• RNs are responsible for monitoring and reading their own telemetry strips; additional support from ICU and charge nurses available
• No dress code; any color scrubs permitted
• One 12-hour unit-specific orientation shift provided
• All RTO must be submitted up front; additional RTO after submission will not be approved
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active MN RN license required at time of submission; compact not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• At least 1 year of recent L&D experience required
• Experience in both MedSurg/Peds and L&D required
• Ability to titrate drips including OB (Pitocin), ICU cardiac drips, heparin, and sedation drugs
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year
