Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Intermediate Care (IMC) position requiring active IL licensure, ACLS/BLS certification, and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit of an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital
• Night shift schedule with options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (1845-0715)
• Average daily census is 38 patients
• Required to work every other weekend and float to similar units as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Cerner EMR with previous Cerner experience required
• Patient population includes cardiac, post cardiac surgery, renal, neuro, and complex medical cases
• Cardiac monitoring, post-angiogram care, and management of surgical drains and respiratory support equipment
• Provide comprehensive care including cardiac, neurological, renal, respiratory, and post-surgical management
• Will float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary acute care team in a teaching and trauma setting
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
• Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• No COVID, RQI cards, or pending license allowed; references may be pending at application
• Locals accepted
• Candidates who have worked as perm or PRN employees at this health system must have a 12-month separation before applying

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown settings
• Current certifications: ACLS and BLS from AHA or Red Cross
• Strong skills in cardiac and telemetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Prior experience with Cerner charting system required
• Experience managing post cardiac, gastrointestinal, renal, and neurological cases
• Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, blood product administration, and medication infusions
• Must have experience with respiratory support devices (CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, chest tubes) and wound care
• First-time travelers accepted
