Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown ICU position requiring SC or compact RN licensure, Epic proficiency, and cardiac telemetry experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the stepdown ICU unit of an acute care hospital
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
- Care for adult patients requiring cardiac telemetry
- Epic EMR is used and prior Epic experience is required
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibility
- Floating required within scope of practice and between similar units or sister facilities
- Provide nursing care to stepdown ICU patients, including cardiac monitoring and interventions
- Royal blue scrubs are required
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
- All RTO must be declared at submission; approval is based on facility needs
- Free parking is available on site
- May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
- Mandatory completion of pre-start modules averaging 4 hours
- Position is open to block scheduling request but approval not guaranteed
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required prior to start
- Minimum of 1 year recent stepdown experience required, 2 years preferred
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS and CPI preferred
- Competency and experience in cardiac telemetry required
- Epic EMR experience required
- SSN and driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must live outside a 60-mile radius to qualify for travel rates, local candidates considered at a reduced rate
- Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
