Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Renal Stepdown unit, requiring strong cardiac telemetry skills and travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is located in a hospital Cardiac Renal Stepdown unit
• Day shift position working 12-hour shifts from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm
• Unit has 32 beds with patient ratios of 1:4-5 during days
• High acuity telemetry/med-surg patient population including cardiac conditions such as Afib with RVR, heart blocks, CHF, post ablation, and dialysis
• Primary location is Midtown with required floating within skillset to Newburgh campus (IN) and potential to Henderson campus (KY), with 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
• Must work three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• Epic EMR experience required
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• First to float policy applies to travelers
• Must be able to precept students and new hires as needed in a teaching hospital environment
• Expect a supportive team with strong staff retention led by a seasoned manager
• Scrubs must be free of competing health system or agency logos
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius of the facility will be considered
• COVID-19 vaccination not required at this time but subject to change
• Up to three call-ins may result in contract termination

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 3 years of strong cardiac/telemetry nursing experience
• At least 2 prior travel assignments required
• Recent trauma level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required with ability to complete system checkoff
• Demonstrated skill with telemetry and 12-lead EKG interpretation (telemetry exam required)
• Experience with initiating/titrating cardiac drips, PIV insertion, chest tube and drain management, nephrostomy tubes, and managing antiarrhythmic medications
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills are required
