Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position caring for complex adult medical patients, with ACLS and Epic experience required.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 25-bed Medical Progressive Care Unit with a focus on acutely and chronically ill adult patients
• Staffed by Internal Medicine Physicians and Residents
• Current nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 with a target of 1:4
• Requires 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM), 3 days per week
• All travelers must float as needed to other PCU units and potentially to Med Surg
• Epic EMR experience required
• Nurses will provide care to adults with a wide range of complex medical diagnoses
• Holiday coverage required: at least one holiday per 13-week assignment, or two during winter holidays
• Must complete orientation and Epic modules, with some allowed pre-start or during onboarding
• Travelers residing within 100 miles of the facility are considered local and are not accepted; exceptions apply for those living 50-99.9 miles away, who may be considered for one assignment with no eligibility to extend
• Previous employees must be separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler, with further limitations after 365 days on assignment
• Return travelers may be subject to facility-specific separation policies

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required
• Prior experience working in Progressive Care Units
• Epic charting experience is required
• Two professional references required at time of consideration
