Job Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Cardiac Renal Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring a current compact RN license, strong cardiac/tele skills, and recent Epic experience.

Responsibilities

• Position located on a 34-bed Cardiac Renal Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes post-cardiac procedure, A-fib RVR, ESRD, CHF, sepsis, tracheostomies, nephrostomy tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, renal biopsy, and behavioral health/detox cases
• Work hours are 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work three weekends in every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• Floating required within skillset, including possible float to nearby campuses with two hours' notice
• Night shift nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:6–7; charge nurse may have a patient assignment
• Recent experience with Epic charting system required, including a checkoff class
• Responsibilities include recovering heart caths, managing drips, performing PIV insertions, and managing complex patient cases in a telemetry setting
• May provide precepting to students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment
• Must wear navy blue scrubs without competing health system or agency logos
• Social, resilient, and adaptable candidates preferred
• Three call-ins may result in termination
• Applicants must reside more than 40 miles from the facility location

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications
• Minimum two years recent strong cardiac/telemetry experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Trauma level II experience required
• Experience and proficiency in telemetry, 12-lead EKG interpretation, heart cath recovery, PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, drip management, and central line care
• Experience with CBI and detox/CIWA protocols
• Strong assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Must pass telemetry tests
