Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 32-bed Emergency Department night shift position requiring current telemetry competency and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a 32-bed Emergency Department within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes general ED cases, abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, behavioral health, geriatrics, rare pediatrics, and occasional labor & delivery patients
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Work schedule is 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage is expected as needed by the unit
• Charting is done using Epic EMR; experience preferred
• Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system are used
• Support staff includes Patient Care Techs, 24/7 respiratory therapy, a receptionist at all times, and hospitalist and mid-level provider coverage after hours
• Must demonstrate strong communication, organization, and time management skills
• Collaborative team environment with support from techs, receptionists, RT, and providers
• General hospital orientation plus 1-2 unit shifts, followed by independent shifts for facility familiarization
• Scrub color is flexible and any color is permitted
• Parking is free for staff
• RTO up to 7 days permitted; more days require Nurse Manager approval
• Phlebotomy and lab draws may be performed by nurses, phlebotomy staff, or techs

Requirements

• Active WA or Compact RN license required (can be submitted with pending license if proof provided)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience required for travelers; CAP candidates require at least 4 years
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, MOAB 1 & 2 (or CPI), and TNCC
• Telemetry competency must be completed and passed prior to start
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Will not accept first-time travelers
