Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg Tele position specializing in Cardiac and Neuro care, requiring an active compact RN license and recent EPIC experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is located on a 19-bed blended Cardiac Neuro Med/Surg Tele unit with stepdown and MS/T beds
• Patient population includes cardiac post-procedure, arrhythmias, heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI, neurological cases such as CVA and seizures, detox/CIWA, sepsis, DKA, and respiratory distress
• Typical night shift schedule is 12 hours from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM for a 13-week contract
• Required to work three weekends in every six-week schedule and every other holiday
• First to float within skillset, with possible float to Newburgh (IN) and Henderson (KY) campuses; two-hour notice for cross-campus float
• Recent EPIC charting experience required and subject to a proficiency checkoff
• Stepdown RNs may take MS/T patients; charge nurse will take patient assignments
• Responsibilities include performing cardiac and neuro assessments, managing post-cardiac intervention care, titrating medications, and supporting patients through various complex conditions
• Navy blue scrubs are required, with no competing health system or agency logos permitted
• Teaching hospital environment may require precepting students and new hires
• Covid-19 vaccine is not required at this time, but this is subject to change
• Frequent absences may result in termination after three call-ins

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license required at time of application
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum two years of Cardiac/Neuro Med/Surg Tele experience with one prior travel contract, or five years if no prior travel experience
• Proven experience with Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation and post-heart cath care
• Must be able to initiate and titrate Heparin, conduct thorough neuro assessments, manage sepsis care, and perform PIV insertion
• Must pass telemetry tests as required for travelers
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and adaptability skills required
• No local candidates accepted; must reside at least 40 miles from the facility
