Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Telemetry Observation Unit position, requiring a compact or AZ RN license and recent acute care experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 16-bed Telemetry Observation Unit in an acute care hospital
- Night shifts with a 12-hour schedule
- Patient population includes chest pain evaluation, post heart cath (no sheaths), post-interventional radiology and endoscopy procedures, stable pre-CABG, and non-titration cardiac medication management
- Unit functions as an extension of the ER
- Hospitalist covers call with 24/7 RT and pharmacy support
- Floating required to any telemetry or med/surg floor and to sister facility
- Cerner EMR is used
- Must work every 3rd weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays
- Must wear navy scrubs
- Two-day unit-specific orientation provided
- Critical thinking skills are essential for safe patient care
- Charge nurse and PCTs are present depending on census
- No ventilators, BiPAP, or CPAP used on the unit
- Care delivered for patients without acute alcohol withdrawal unless more than three days out
- First to float among staff
- Candidate residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Holiday coverage rotates with core staff
- Passing all required clinical exams is necessary to remain eligible for assignment
Requirements
- Active AZ or compact RN license in hand at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience within the past 6 months
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours of offer with a maximum of 2 attempts
- Must pass a simulation lab test on day 1 of orientation
- Must provide a current driver’s license for residency verification
- Applicant must not have been employed in any capacity at a CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months
