Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Transfer Center Clinical role in Sacramento, CA, focusing on ER patient transfers and requiring a CA RN license with acute care background.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital transfer center with no hands-on patient care
• Unit supports transfer of ER and ICU patients and manages cases from both within and outside the hospital system
• Caseload averages 10-15 cases per shift, facilitating high-volume patient transfers
• Uses Cerner EMR, TeleTracking, Tiger Connect, and Google applications
• Shifts are 12 hours with varied start times: 1445-0315 and 1245-0115, with every other weekend required
• No floating required
• Responsibilities include facilitating transfers by assessing cases, coordinating with accepting physicians, securing beds, and providing clinical reports
• No direct patient care is involved in this role
• Support available from supervisors and a leadership team
• One day of general orientation and three to five days of departmental orientation provided, training may occur on any shift
• Must be willing to work holidays as needed
• Casual dress code; scrubs of any color (clean, professional), jeans and hoodies allowed if free of rips, tears, or large writing
• Free onsite parking and complimentary EV charging available
• RTO (request for time off) should be minimal or none

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU, ED, or transfer center experience in acute care settings
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience with Cerner or Epic EMR systems required
• Strong critical care assessment, clinical judgment, multitasking, and computer skills required
• Must have experience facilitating patient transfers and following clinical algorithms
• Must provide two professional references as specified, including one from a supervisor within the last 12 months
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours after offer (two attempts allowed, or show prior passing score from last 12 months)
• Must not have been employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, in the past year
