Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg position in a rural hospital setting requiring at least one year of experience and a SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Med/Surg unit of a rural hospital
• Night shift schedule from 19:00 to 07:30
• 13-week assignment
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:6
• Required to work every other weekend
• Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to Med/Surg patients using standard protocols and physician-approved plans
• Care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, and those at high risk for falls
• Participate in hourly rounding and follow hospital-specific safety practices
• Support and mentor novice staff members and contribute to the department's growth initiatives
• Expected to maintain professionalism and excellent communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team
• Required to use appropriate health and safety equipment when necessary

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license
• At least one year of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Primary source verification of nursing license or certificate required
