Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) night shift contract requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and advanced cardiovascular skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care Cardiovascular ICU unit with 12 beds
  • Patient population includes AMI, CAD, PVD, and fresh open-heart surgery cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity
  • Advanced procedures include IABP, CRRT, and care for fresh open-heart surgery patients
  • RNs required to titrate drips such as Dex, Propofol, Dop, Neo, Epi, Levo, Insulin, and Cardene
  • Equipped with vents, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, HiFlow, and in-room tele monitors (Nihon Khoden)
  • Charting is performed using Cerner EMR
  • Night shift position, 12-hour shifts, with a requirement to work two weekend shifts per pay period
  • Floats as needed to ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry units at both campuses
  • Call/standby required up to three times per 12 weeks
  • Unit requires navy blue scrubs
  • Orientation provided specific to the unit or department
  • Holiday shift coverage is required as needed
  • No nurse aides assigned to the unit; RNs work without nursing assistant support
  • Intensivists and respiratory therapists are available 24/7
  • Testing on sterile technique for Foley and central line care will be conducted on the first day of orientation
  • Failure to pass the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam within two attempts results in ineligibility for future assignments for six months
  • First to float as needed across referenced departments
  • Travel duos must have separate vehicles and cannot be guaranteed the same schedule

Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS and ACLS
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
  • Experience with IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery required
  • Impella experience preferred
  • RNs must be able to independently read telemetry strips
  • Required to provide two references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed (FT, PT, PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
