Description

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a GA or compact license and at least 2 years of recent Med/Tele experience.

Responsibilities

Work in hospital Med/Surg and telemetry units with 20-36 beds per unit
Patient ratios are typically RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA up to 1:14
Cares for adult med/surg and telemetry patient populations
Day shifts are 12 hours, from 7am to 7pm, with 36 hours per week
Must work 3 weekends in a 6 week schedule
Required to work specific holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
Travelers will float to all Med/Tele units as needed
No on-call or call back requirements
Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
Responsibilities include managing advanced lines, titrating drips, and providing direct patient care
Support provided by CNA, unit secretary, charge nurse, and PICC team
RNs are expected to draw off CVLs and utilize lab collect phlebotomy
1 day facility orientation and 2 days departmental orientation provided
Busy, team-oriented unit culture
Scrub color for RNs is navy
Free parking available on campus
Hospital has Level 1 trauma and academic teaching status
24/7 access to RT, hospitalist, and intensivist support

Requirements

Active GA or compact state RN license required
Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
Current BLS certification required
ACLS preferred; must pass EKG competency during onboarding
Experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer, insulin and heparin drips
Med/Surg certification is a plus
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
