Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring Med/Tele experience and the ability to float across all related units.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
• Position is in the Med/Surg Telemetry units caring for a diverse adult inpatient population
• Units have 20-36 beds with RN patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Schedules are 12-hour day shifts (7A-7P) with a 36-hour workweek option
• Weekend rotation requires working 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule
• Floating is required to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
• No on-call or call-back duties required
• Holiday coverage required for either 11/27 or 11/28, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems
• Responsibilities include management of complex medical and telemetry patients and administering titratable drips to regulate heart rate
• Team-oriented environment with support from CNAs, resource nurses, discharge nurses, a charge nurse, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Lab phlebotomy responsibilities typically require RNs to draw from central lines; there is a PICC team available
• Comprehensive orientation includes 1 day facility and educational module training, plus 2 days departmental orientation
• Free parking available around campus; dress code requires navy scrubs for RNs

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• Must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding; ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with trach care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, glucometer use, and medication drips (including insulin and heparin) required
