Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with float pool responsibilities and a GA or compact RN license requirement.

Responsibilities

• Hospital setting with Level 1 Trauma and teaching designation
• Work on Med/Surg and Telemetry units with 20-36 beds per unit
• Patient population includes general med/surg and telemetry cases
• Typical RN patient ratio is 1:4-6
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• 12-hour day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM
• Works 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule
• Holiday shifts required on assigned dates
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to all med/surg and telemetry units as needed
• Support provided by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, pharmacy, and a resource nurse team
• RNs responsible for drawing blood from CVLs; no dedicated IV team
• One-day general orientation followed by two days of departmental orientation
• Team-oriented, busy work environment with strong interdisciplinary support
• Navy scrubs required for RNs
• Free parking available campus-wide
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• BLS certification required
• Must be able to pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding
• ACLS certification preferred
• Skills needed include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and experience with insulin and heparin drips
• Epic EMR experience preferred
