Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with a GA or compact RN license and at least two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele units in a hospital with Level 1 Trauma and teaching designation
• Units have 20–36 beds with patient ratios of 1:4-6 for RNs
• Central telemetry monitoring is present
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Floats required to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
• 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A) with 36 hours per week
• Holiday coverage is required for at least one date in each listed holiday pair
• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource and discharge nurses, and 24/7 respiratory, hospitalist, and intensivist teams
• RNs are responsible for central line draws; PICC team available
• Orientation includes one day facility/module education and two days department-specific training
• Scrub color for RNs is navy
• Busy, team-oriented unit culture

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license
• Minimum two years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred; must pass EKG competency during onboarding
• Experience with trach care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, and glucometer use
• Experience with insulin and heparin drips, and titrating drips to HR is required
