Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a busy teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma and float pool requirements.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital environment with Med/Surg and Telemetry units
Typical patient ratio is 1:4-6 for RNs
Patient population includes a variety of inpatient med/surg and telemetry cases
Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM
Weekend and holiday work required on specified dates
Travelers may float to all Med/Tele units as needed
Epic EMR is used on all units
Common equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and VS3 vital sign monitors
Duties include managing a range of med/surg and telemetry patients, administering medications, and performing specialized procedures such as trach and chest tube care
Support staff includes CNA, unit secretary, charge nurse, discharge/resource nurse, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, and intensivist
Centralized telemetry monitoring is available
Phlebotomy is lab collected; RNs may draw from CVLs
Orientation consists of 1 facility day and 2 departmental days with educational modules
Navy scrubs required for RNs
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Work environment is fast-paced and team-oriented

Requirements

Active GA or compact RN license required
Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Tele RN experience
Current BLS certification required
ACLS preferred; must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
Skills needed include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use
Experience with insulin and heparin drips, and titratable drips to HR is required
