Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position requiring at least two years of med/tele experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Work in a hospital med/surg telemetry setting with units ranging from 20 to 36 beds
Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital environment
Patient ratios typically 1:4-6 for RNs
12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
Weekend rotation required
Must work select holidays: either 11/27 or 11/28, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1
Floating to all med/surg and telemetry units is expected
No on-call or call-back requirements
Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
Responsible for care of a diverse inpatient med/surg and telemetry population
Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurse team, and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage
Central telemetry unit provides monitoring support
RNs draw blood from CVLs; lab collects most other blood work
Orientation includes one day of facility education modules and two departmental days
Navy scrubs are required for RNs
Team-oriented and fast-paced unit culture
First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

Active GA or compact RN license required
Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Must successfully complete an EKG competency exam during onboarding
ACLS certification preferred
Able to perform trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer usage
Experience administering insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to heart rate
