Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with 1 year of experience, Michigan license (or pending), and strong post-surgical skills for a night shift position.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Medical Surgical unit with responsibilities for post-surgical patients
• Night shifts with a 3x12 schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios up to 1:6
• Must float to other Med/Surg units, ICU, and ED Waiting as needed
• Weekend shifts required every other week
• No call responsibilities
• Must be willing to float, with travelers assigned first to float as needed
• References are required for consideration
• Modules required during orientation and annually, completed on a self-reported basis
• Return staff must wait six months before reapplying
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license or valid proof of license application
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg or PCU experience required
• BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Strong competencies in post-surgical care
• Experience with telemetry, colostomy and feeding tube care, hemodialysis management, port access, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC lines, IV starts, heparin, insulin, PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and tracheostomy management
• Must be able to manage isolation precautions and wound care including wound vacs
• Flu vaccination or exemption documentation required
