Job Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Iowa, requiring EKG/ECG proficiency and Epic EMR experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio is 1:6 on a 130-bed unit
• Care involves tele monitoring, reading rhythm strips, and managing drips including heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
• May float to Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, ICU, and some post-procedural areas as needed
• Epic EMR is used, and prior experience is required
• May require completion of a two-day Identifying Cardiac Dysrhythmias class and annual Cornerstone educational module
• Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving) in 2025
• Only 1 day off may be requested between 11/26/25-11/30/25 and 12/23/25-1/2/26
• Local candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• A two-day cardiac dysrhythmias course is required, with annual competency testing
• Prior employees of the client within the last 12 months may not be eligible
• One supervisory reference from the last 2 years is required for consideration
• First-time travelers with the required experience are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active Iowa or Compact RN license is required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele experience
• First-time travelers accepted with at least 3 years of nursing experience
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• De-escalation certification required (CPI, MOAB, or MAB accepted)
• Direct experience with EKG/ECG and telemetry duties required
• Must have prior experience using Epic EMR
