Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a current CA RN license and advanced perinatal certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of an acute care, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level II Trauma status
• Patient ratios are 1:2 in Labor and Delivery
• Shift is night (4x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:00
• Must work 2 weekends every 6 weeks; night shift weekends may include Fridays
• No on-call requirements
• No floating within scope required
• Charting is documented in Cerner EMR
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this role
• Must have been separated from prior employment at this facility for at least one year to be eligible
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Only one holiday time-off request is permitted, but staff should expect to work holidays
• No specified scrub color, but camouflage or character patterns are not permitted
• Free parking is available
• Mandatory online modules (3-6 hours) are completed as part of orientation

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
• Certifications required: BLS, AWHONN Advanced, NRP Advanced (all 11 components), and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
• Demonstrated ability and experience performing vaginal exams and providing neonatal care
• Experience managing birth volumes ranging from fewer than 100 to over 300 births
• References from supervisors within the past 2 years required
• COVID vaccination required prior to start
