Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Washington, DC, requiring a DC RN license, AHA BLS/ACLS, and Cerner experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Medical/Surgical Telemetry inpatient care setting
  • Day shifts consisting of 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
  • Assignment duration is 9 weeks
  • Care for adult acute care med/tele patient population
  • Cerner EMR experience is required
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility per traveler rules
  • Deliver competent and efficient nursing care for med/surg telemetry patients
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and complete documentation as per policy
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient needs
  • Holiday and weekend coverage may be required per unit demands
  • AHA-issued certifications are mandatory for employment consideration
  • COVID and flu vaccination requirements apply

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required prior to start
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and CPI certification required
  • At least 2 years of RN experience with 1 year of recent med/tele acute care inpatient experience in a US hospital required
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
  • Cerner experience required
  • Must pass a telemetry rhythm interpretation test prior to start
  • Two manager or supervisor references preferred from the last 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer
  • BSN highly desired
