Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU RN with ACT and open-heart cardiac experience for a 13-week night shift contract.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital
• Primary patient population includes direct fresh open-heart surgical admissions
• Requires expertise in pressure monitoring, Swan-Ganz, Impella, and CRRT
• Patient ratio typically 1:2, may vary with unit acuity and overflow/step-down cases
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00), including weekends
• Blocked scheduling considered for weekend shifts only (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)
• Uses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience preferred
• No scrubs provided; staff responsible for own scrubs
• Primary duties involve caring for immediate post-operative cardiac surgical patients and managing complex cardiovascular devices
• No previous or current employment at Vandalia Health System facilities permitted for contract eligibility
• Orientation takes place every other Thursday, with required online modules to be completed prior to start
• Modules average 8 hours and are tracked by the compliance team
• No travel experience required for consideration
• RTO (requested time off) should be included at time of application

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required; pending license accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a similar CVICU setting
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH via American Heart Association
• Must have direct experience with ACT (Activated Clotting Time)
• Experience required with fresh open-heart admissions, Swan-Ganz management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT
• Minimum two recent manager or charge nurse references from the past two years
• Permanent address must be at least 100 miles from the facility; 75–100 miles considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous perm employees may not return as travelers within 2 years of last perm employment at any associated health system facility
