Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit night shift with a current CA RN license and recent charge nurse experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 27-bed telemetry unit within an acute care setting
• Patient population includes med surg, GYN, post-op, oncology (history of, not active chemo), appy, chole, some spine and joint cases, and patients over age 15; no acute strokes, no acute cardiac, no drips, no vents
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 for med surg and 1:4 for chemo/tele patients
• Night shifts with 12-hour shifts, required to work every other weekend
• First to float to other med surg units as needed
• Remote telemetry monitoring supported by monitor techs
• Cerner is the charting system used
• Role includes a blend of charge nurse, clinical mentorship, and management responsibilities with on-shift leadership duties
• No first-time travelers considered for this assignment
• Three weeks of orientation provided, including classroom and unit orientation
• Must wear navy scrubs
• Required to cover two major holidays and one minor holiday
• If placed on standby, must be able to report within 30 minutes
• Support resources include two nurse aides per shift, resource nurse, PICC and midline teams, hospitalist, RT, and pharmacy all available 24/7
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by any facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 3 years RN experience, including prior charge nurse experience in most recent assignment
• Current AHA certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Previous telemetry and med surg experience required
• Strong central line skills required
• Must provide two professional references: one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last three years
